What is the Oceania Hypnotherapy approach?
We provide an individually tailored approach through use clinical hypnotherapy combined with strategic psychotherapy. Our therapy is solution-focused and identifies the ‘how’ of the problem rather than the ‘why’. Our clients are supported through learning about their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and developing new skills to ‘do’ the thinking behind the problem differently.
How will I feel during hypnosis?
Have you ever jumped in the car and not remembered the drive to your destination? We fall in and out of states of hypnosis hundreds of times a day during tasks we complete in autopilot mode. During hypnosis, you feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions associated to the behaviour or habit you wish to change.
How do I know if I can be hypnotised?
Anyone can be hypnotised provided they want to change their thought pattern or behaviour. There is no right or wrong way to experience hypnosis and each person experiences hypnosis differently in terms of varying degrees of relaxation.
Will I still be in control?
Clinical hypnosis is completely different to stage hypnosis you may have seen in shows or on TV. When under hypnosis, you remain completely in control, fully aware and able to open your eyes at any time you choose. You also have the ability to choose whether to accept the suggestions provided to you by the Hypnotherapist.
What is the difference between traditional and modern hypnosis?
Many traditional hypnotherapists utilise scripts with direct suggestions and commands. Hypnotherapists utilising modern hypnosis use permissive language and conversational patterns to support a more tailored and individualised approach to treatment.
Can sessions be done online?
Yes. Hypnotherapy sessions can be conducted online via a secure video platform. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions and allow you to receive support from the comfort of your own home.
